We’re so proud that last week, Revolution Growth’s co-founder Ted Leonsis was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Tech Council of Maryland (TCM), Maryland’s largest technology trade association. The TCM Lifetime Achievement Award is given annually to a Marylander who displays commitment and leadership across the technology community, and who encourages creativity and innovative ideas.
During his acceptance speech, Leonsis urged his home state of Maryland to do more to encourage and grow the entrepreneur community in the state. In his 20 years in the Washington, D.C. region, Ted has witnessed the growth in local technology startups and the increase in venture capital investments in this region. He strongly believes in the long-term and positive impact the startup community can have on a local economy, and emphasizes the importance of supporting new generations of startups and entrepreneurs locally.
In an earlier statement, Phil Schiff, TCM’s CEO, said, “Mr. Leonsis exemplifies the true spirit of our award. His passion for technology, coupled with his philanthropic spirit, has greatly enhanced the landscape of education, sports and investing in the Washington, D.C. area. His work has benefited individuals and organizations around the region and beyond.” He added, “he is a true entrepreneur with an indomitable spirit and an inspirational story that empowers technology leaders locally and around the world.”
