EXPERIENCE
Alex Shtarkman is a Vice President at Revolution Ventures. He joined full-time as a member of the investment team in 2018 and is based in the Washington, D.C. office.
Alex focuses on identifying, investing in, and helping build innovative and impactful early-stage companies. He is currently a board member at Casted and Grid & Pixel and a board observer at eSUB, GoodBuy Gear, HPNG, Mint House, Sila, and Wagmo, and formerly at Homesnap (acquired by CoStar), Resolute AI (acquired by Research Solutions), and MemberSuite (acquired by Growth Zone/Lead Edge Capital). Alex sits on the Innovation and Technology Council of the Urban Land Institute, focused on exploring technology-driven solutions within real estate, is on the board of the Center for Real Estate Technology and Innovation (CRETI), and is also an active supporter and mentor for the Endeavor, Techstars, and Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures FastForward startup and company incubation programs. In 2024, Venture Capital Journal named Alex a 40 Under 40 Rising Star of Venture Capital and DCA Live listed him among its Venture Investor & Private Equity Stars.
Prior to joining Revolution Ventures, Alex was an Associate in the Consumer Investment Banking Group at Raymond James & Associates. While at Raymond James, Alex advised numerous industry-leading consumer product, retail, e-commerce, and restaurant companies in mergers and acquisitions and capital markets transactions.
Alex received his B.A. in international studies with a minor in economics, entrepreneurship, and management from the Johns Hopkins University with Phi Beta Kappa honors as well as a M.A. in international finance and law from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS).
