Earlier this week, Business Insider released its Digital 100 list of the world’s most valuable private technology companies. Rankings were based on various metrics ranging from perception of investors, to growth rate, market opportunity, revenue, and customers.

We were pleased to see that among the innovative and fast-growing businesses on the list were three Revolution portfolio companies: AddThisEveryday Health, and LivingSocial. These companies hail from different sectors: AddThis (formerly ClearSpring) provides the largest social and interest graph on the open web, connecting publishers with more than 1.3 billion users; Everyday Health is the leading digital provider of health and wellness information; and LivingSocial is a dominant player in the social commerce and daily deals space.  But the common thread between the three is the way in which they’re using technology to disrupt an existing market – and building significant companies in the process.

We’re very proud of the talented teams at LivingSocial, AddThis and Everyday Health and believe they’ll continue to be a force in their respective markets.  And when next year’s Digital 100 is released, we expect that we’ll see more Revolution companies take a place on the list – companies like GramercyOne, which is leading the way in creating a booking marketplace for service-based businesses, Echo360 which is transforming the university learning environment for students and instructors, RunKeeper which is combining health, social, and fun to improve the fitness experience, and FedBid, which is leveraging a reverse auction platform to transform the procurement process and save both government and business significant money.

I look forward to talking about these disruptive companies, and the bright future for the digital space overall at Business Insider’s “Ignition: Future of Digital” conference in New York City in November.  My conversation with Henry Blodget will no doubt generate a lively discussion.

Until then, we celebrate all of the companies on the Digital 100 list and their efforts to change the world.
