Changing TV landscape

This is a really interesting article about Apple TV – and their discussions with cable companies.

Google, Apple, Microsoft, all want into this space. Cable eyes these companies as “coopetition.”

This dance has been going on for a dozen years or more. Do we forget Microsoft investing billions and billions of dollars into cable companies and channels, and even AOL acquiring Time Warner for their content and cable assets? How did that work out?

The set top box too? Slingbox? Who owns that one now? What about Tivo?

Cable wins this battle.

Apple, Microsoft and Google all will have to go over the top and build out their own networks. That is my belief.
